We made our first trek north this past weekend and saw some beautiful countryside. We wound our way through tiny towns in North Carolina and Virginia, the cicadas loud in the high grass. The sun shone and our hound whined punctuated with Little Bear yelling, "Muds, NO!" (Because he drooled on her head.) I managed to take some pictures along the way despite sweat dripping on to my camera as I slugged through record high humidity. At one point the weather man on the radio said, "a high of 95 today, but we all know it's going to be hotter than that." I figured it was better if I didn't know the gory details.
Hope you're having a lovely summer!
See, I can do all sorts of things! And I only like to play in the darkness for short stints and then I need the sunshine. Expect sunshine for awhile, dear Margo.

Lovely pics! There was a house -the most perfect little bungalow you ever saw - along the road from Durham to Hershey. Every time I passed I thought, "I must take a picture so I'll always have a record of The Perfect House." Did I do it? No. So keep your eyes peeled. It's one of those brick bungalows, probably a Sears kit, with green shutters.

No, I didnt squish the beetles. I thought they were too pretty against the green leaf. Since they werent in my garden, I didnt mind so much. :-)

Love your pictures. I do hope you mercilessly squashed those obscene Japanese beetles. Talk about your explicit horror!

As usual the subtle humor in your post had me rolling around my floor. Reminds me of our trips to the beach with the dogs. Kids get so covered in dog slobber their hair stands stright up! Your pictures are gorgeous. You can write AND photograph well. Double threat! Great post kid.
