Last night I finished the first pair of Big Butt Baby Pants by Made By Rae.
I even cut short the nightly phone call to my mother to do it. Her response: "I know when I'm not wanted!" *sniff* (which she says with ALL THE LOVE IN HER HEART!)
Despite disappointing my mum, I'm just tickled by the results. Thank you, Rae! The pattern is simple enough for a beginning seamstress, such as moi, to finish it in an evening yet there are a hundred variations one could make with it. These pants coordinate with Little Bear's school jumper. I even had time to cut out fabric for two more pairs of pants.
I had a final fitting with Little Bear this morning, and she insisted on dancing in them to ensure that they were roomy enough, to John Lennon's Watching the Wheels no less.
Obviously she inherited her fine dance moves from her mother. Or she's been watching reruns of Seinfeld and taking lessons from Elaine when I'm not looking.
Part of every dance involves her throwing herself on a pillow and inevitably...
...reading the Guide to Mountain Biking in Colorado.
So I think the pants are a success. The ultimate test will be school tomorrow. I'm crossing my fingers that it's smooth sailing, and you had better cross yours too!
I almost wish Ben wasn't potty training so I had a reason to make those pants! They are so fraggin cute.
dahling, everything will be fine with school. I just know it. I hope you can be calm :) and then reward yourself!

Remember! Sitting with hands folded is not the only posture to take either in this world or the preschool one. Making fantastic noises with a squeaky wooden rod (and who among us with a musician's soul wouldn't want to try it) does not delinquency make.
If I had such fab pants I would dance WHILE I made squeaky wooden noises.
