The Queen of Hearts, The King of Hearts
She made some tarts, Called for the tarts
All on a summer’s day; And beat the Knave full sore;
The Knave of Hearts, The Knave of Hearts
He stole the tarts Brought back the tarts
And took them clean away. And vowed he’d steal no more.
Despite my peaceful tendencies, I have to admit that I'm with the King. If that Knave stole my tarts, I'd have to beat his butt too.
It's a well documented fact here on this blog that I am a hot mess whenever I tackle pie dough. My bestest friend, Bun, told me to try Fannie Farmer's pie crust, that it was a consistent performer for her. Of course I would take her advice. She's only won, like, a hundred apple pie contests. (baking, not eating.)
I made strawberry jam tarts, also from Fannie Farmer. They were amazing! Although the topping separated a little bit, I was extremely pleased with the pie dough. It was easy, and it turned out a beautiful, flaky crust.
I'd be happy to post the recipes if you like. Just let me know in the comments.
Kyle - its no hardship eating the whole batch, let me tell you! :)

These look delicious, and are making me miss gluten & sugar! I would like the recipe, maybe I can make them when Alex is busy outside with Nick & I guess I would just have to eat the whole batch myself!

Beware, Carolina, those tarts go fast...knaves or no. And the recipe is so easy! (thats the truly dangerous part.)

My mind is thinking "Apricot tarts" - I have apricots, I could make those... it is 8:15 PM. Too late? Not too late to make those tarts. Too late to eat them all? Perhaps, but I wouldn't want any knaves living under the same roof as me to get any ideas. Carolina

Mmmmm...fruit filled tarts. My favorite. I too, am a hot mess with dough. Martha Stewarts pate brisse works for me, but I will try Fanny Farmers now. The squash casserole from that cookbook is also divine.

Margo - that wonderful Fannie told me to bake them in muffin tins, and with her super-easy pie crust...tarts in NO TIME. I tell you, if the Queen of Lazy (cest moi) can do this, you can too. Especially since youre way more domestically talented than moi. xoxo

oh I WANT one of those tarts! Mind you, I don't want to MAKE them, just want some. does this involve little tart pans or something? I can't add any more bakeware to my kitchen, but I do love the idea of these little tarts. . . (I think I really am as hot and lazy as I sound)

Remember the Super Friends, Sim? Wonder twin powers activate: form of a tart shell! Form of strawberry filling! Lets do it and save the world from dullness. xoxo

Send it on out here, Mol. I just made strawberry jam and have some dabs that wouldn't fit in the jars. Sounds like fate to me!
