As most of my creative readers know, I'm a sucker for a good cookie. Homemade chocolate chip in particular, but really, when it comes to homemade I'm not all that particular. In fact, ply me with cookies and I'll pretty much agree to whatever you say. (*crosses fingers* Please, oh please let me be inundated by overwhelming cookie mail.)
Somehow, I don't remember the exact details, I became embroiled in a conversation with writer friends about evil baking. Among my horror writing friends I get teased for having a sweet blog, for being deathly afraid of clowns and for baking. Luckily we had avoided the dreaded clown quagmire and were concentrating instead on what was going on in my kitchen. I had ripe peaches that were ready for pie, and someone declared I was Evil Betty Crocker. I found it extremely flattering. (Which makes me perfectly weird, I know.) And then Christian Jensen said these magical words, "soul stealing cookies." The idea was planted in my bizarrely working brain, and next thing I knew I was propositioning Jason McKinney to allow me to post a short piece of fiction on his blog. (Hey, being Empress of the World has its perks.)
There's no parental advisory for this one. No spooky gory sexy either. It's just spooky. Think of it as a dark fairy tale about baking with sharp knives at the end.
Oh, and for my family...yes, I did use the family name. Don't worry, I've already been chastised by my mother who declared that I "had a complex" and "needed therapy." Since that's out of the way, ya'll can pass the gravy boat without thinking those same thoughts. I love ya.
Enjoy!
Thanks, Kendall! Im glad you liked it.

They were probably the same evil macaroons that have been plaguing you for months. *evil cackle* Thanks for reading, Leslie!

Intriguing! (On a side note, do you think she invented macarons? Those suckers are killing me!)

Why thank you, Mr. Fish. As I wrote before, cookies by mail are always accepted. ;)
